Owego receiving award from National Weather Service

OWEGO, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – The Town of Owego is receiving an award for its commitment to preparing for severe weather conditions.

Owego is receiving the "Storm Ready Community Status Award" from the National Weather Service. The award is given to communities who have prepared for weather events such as flooding, large snowstorms, hurricanes, and tornados.

Tioga County and the Town of Vestal have also received this distinction.

Community members are welcome to come to the Shared Services Building on November 8 from 9 to 10 a.m. for an open hose and tours of the facility.
