Pac-12 football power rankings, Week 13: Is there a new No. 1 after Washington Huskies’ win over Oregon State Beavers?

The Pac-12 football power rankings from The Oregonian/OregonLive came oh-so-close to featuring a new No. 1 heading into the final week of the regular season.

The Oregon Ducks maintained their spot at the top of our rankings, but only narrowly so, edging the second-place Washington Huskies by a single point.

After earning six first-place votes and 83 points from our seven-member panel for multiple weeks, the Ducks landed just four and 81 this week, as a pair of our voters shifted their ballots in favor of the Huskies. The change came in the wake of Washington’s impressive 22-20 victory last weekend over the Oregon State Beavers during their top-10 matchup in Corvallis.

The outcome not only boosted Washington in our rankings, but also sunk the Beavers, sending them from third to fourth place with 63 points. Oregon State was leapfrogged by the red-hot Arizona Wildcats , who surged to third place with 69 points after a dominant 42-18 victory over the Utah Utes . The Wildcats are riding a five-game winning streak.

The Utes, meanwhile, slipped to fifth place after the loss, netting just 57 points from our panel.

UCLA, USC and Cal landed sixth, seventh and eighth, respectively, in the poll as all seven members of our panel voted them in that order.

Did the Washington State Cougars move up after ending their losing streak? Did the Colorado Buffaloes finally reach the cellar after losing yet again?
