Packers News, 10/4: Current and former Packers receivers look for history

A.Davis2 hr ago
The Green Bay Packers have a long, storied history at the wide receiver position. Starting with Don Hutson, who revolutionized the position, and carrying through to today, the Packers have rarely if ever been without a player who would reasonably be considered a star wideout.

Currently, the team has a large group of good players there, but Jayden Reed looks like he is on the road to stardom. He also has a chance on Sunday to do something that nobody has done in almost 40 years and that displays his versatility.

Looking back, however, there appears to be some renewed interest in a certain snubbed Packers wideout who deserves more consideration for the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Sterling Sharpe has been held out too long, and he took a significant step forward on Thursday with an announcement coming out of Canton, Ohio.

Let's check out stories on those two players as well as a few other members of the Packers' current receiving corps as the team prepares for a trip to Los Angeles this weekend.

Former Packers WR Sterling Sharpe advances in Hall of Fame senior process | Packers.com Sharpe's time to enter Canton should have come a long time ago, so it's nice to see him getting some renewed consideration this year. Also notable is that Boyd Dowler of the Lombardi era Packers is also on the list.

Packers' Jayden Reed Receiving, Rushing Toward NFL History | SI.com Meanwhile, a solid game for Reed could push him over 400 receiving yards and 100 rushing yards in the first five games, something that only five players have done in league history (and none since 1985).

Packers WR Romeo Doubs misses practice due to personal reason | Packers Wire Hopefully Doubs can be back on Friday and will be ready to go on Sunday.

Packers' WR Dontayvion Wicks works to stop the drops - ESPN With Christian Watson probably out and Doubs a bit uncertain, Wicks will certainly need to step up, and he'll need to get those concentration drops under control.

Davante Adams trade: NFL team fits for Raiders star receiver - ESPN+ Yes, the Packers are on this list of 11 possible destinations, but it's highly unlikely.
