BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) – Demolition crews have just about completed their work on what was the Sears store in Bay County.

It took them about two weeks to tear down the main store building. On Friday, workers were taking down what's left of the old automotive center. Both buildings were part of the mall when it opened in the summer of 1976.

Most of the mall was destroyed by Hurricane Michael in October 2018. A few days later, Sears's parent company declared bankruptcy.

They own the two buildings and are responsible for the demolition.

Hendon Properties owns most of the mall building and has not announced what's next for the property.
