Nytavia Ragsdale, 26, and the son's father Laron Modlin, 25, have been charged with second degree murder, four counts of first degree assault, criminally negligent homicide, endangering the welfare of a child and manslaughter.
"The death of Jah'Meik Modlin, an innocent four-year-old child, is a tragedy that has scarred this city. "Today his parents are indicted for allegedly killing him through extreme physical neglect and persistent abuse with depraved indifference for his life."
On Oct. 13, police found 4-year-old Jahmeik Modlin was found unresponsive inside 2484 Adam Clayton Powell Jr Blvd in Harlem around 8 p.m., Patch previously reported .

Family members said the city agency visited the home in 2022, but no action was taken.
Ragsdale's family said the 26-year-old mother had been suffering from domestic violence and mental health issues.
