Pa.’s ‘only new and used kitchen supply store’ relocates to New Cumberland

To the delight of home cooks and restaurant chefs, a culinary consignment business that closed a year ago is back in business.

Another Round recently relocated to 204 Third St. in New Cumberland, a few miles from its original location in Lemoyne.

As its website states, Another Round is "Pennsylvania's only new and used kitchen supply store."

The shop carries used and new professional-grade restaurant equipment, from knives and pizza paddles to stainless steel tables and convection ovens.

It opened in late 2020 when many restaurants were closing due to the pandemic. But an unfortunate situation forced owners Jon and Savannah Bellem to close the shop, also the headquarters for Jon's restaurant consulting business.

"After numerous poorly managed sewage leaks that happened on the property, we had no choice but to leave," Jon Bellem said.

Looking for a new location, the couple, who live in New Cumberland, scoured the local real estate market. Their search ended when Jon Bellem, while out on a walk, stumbled upon a lease sign on the New Cumberland property.

"The space is amazing. It's a historic building," he said.

With three rooms, the building affords them plenty of space. One room serves as a main retail hub and is filled with kitchen wares for sale.

Clientele include chefs, restaurant industry professionals, home cooks, entertainers, and a mix of churches, hunters and tailgaters, who all have one thing in common — saving money.

Most of the inventory is acquired by Jon Bellem, who as a consultant, acts as a middleman. He helps business owners launch standalone restaurants and commercial and mobile kitchens and advises those who are closing.

He sources used equipment from restaurants and the new equipment through store buyouts.

Fastidious about inventory, he accepts only clean, functioning equipment.

Jon Bellem said they welcome everyone from those who like to cook at home to those inquiring about starting a business.

As a consultant, he helps owners with business plans, food safety and kitchen setups. He's creating a kitchen in one of the rooms to demonstrate equipment to clients. The third room is a dedicated office and meeting room space.

The goal is to invite Harrisburg Area Community College culinary students, the American Culinary Federation and other cuisine leaders to consider the space as a hub for furthering education, he said.

The store is still a work in progress as the couple settles in and welcomes shoppers.

"This is how I always envisioned my office — An innovative and inviting glimpse into kitchens. If you love to cook, eat or entertain, you should feel welcome here," Jon Bellem said.

Shoppers who bring in a used cookbook will receive a 15% discount.

Another Round is open 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Tuesday and Thursday and Saturday and by appointment only on Wednesday and Friday. It is closed on Sundays.
