Passenger who died in three-vehicle crash south of Blair identified
The man who died in a three-vehicle crash south of Blair on Monday has been identified.
German Vasquez-Coto, a 27-year-old from Bellingham, Washington, died after the eastbound Ford Mustang he was a passenger in ran a stop sign, was clipped on its rear bumper by a southbound 2019 Infiniti Q50 and then was struck on the passenger side by a northbound Ford F-150 pickup.
The crash occurred around 5:35 p.m. Monday at the Washington County Road P26 and Nebraska Highway 133 intersection.
Medics took Vasquez-Coto to the Nebraska Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased. The 24-year-old Mustang driver was treated for injuries not believed to have been life-threatening at the medical center. The 48-year-old F-150 driver was treated for minor injuries at the Blair hospital.
Washington County Sheriff Mike Robinson previously said weather may have played a part in the crash. He said the conditions were dark, cloudy and rainy.
He also noted there have been several crashes at the same intersection. A Blair man died in September of 2023 after going through a stop sign while he was also eastbound on County Road P26.
