Patricia Siegfried Obituary
Patricia A. (Merkel) Siegfried, 78, of Breinigsville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 6, 2024 in The Lutheran Home at Topton, where she was a resident since 2020. She was the widow of George N. Siegfried, Sr., who died January 20, 2012 and whom she married August 7, 1965.
Born in Mertztown, Patricia was a daughter of the late Forrest L. Merkel, Sr., and the late Myrtle E. (Behm) Merkel and was a 1964 graduate of Brandywine Heights High School, Topton. Pat was employed as a seamstress at several area factories including Royal Manufacturing Co., H. K. Deisher Knitting Mill, Wenton Shoe Factory and Rems Knitting Mills. Most recently, Pat was employed as a customer service representative by Prudential Insurance and AARP, working in their Fogelsville office. In the 1980's, Pat could be seen frying the famous french fries at Moyer's French Fry Stand at Renninger's Farmer's Market in Kutztown. She also enjoyed helping with the family seafood business, Siegfried's Seafood at the Kutztown Fair and Kutztown Folk Festival.
Pat was a member of Church of the Good Shepherd United Church of Christ, Alburtis, where she was active on various committees and The Old Time Plow Boys Club. She loved to read, crochet, travel and spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Patricia is survived by her two daughters, Carol E. (Siegfried), wife of John A. Trumbauer, Jr., Allentown, and Katrina L. (Siegfried), wife of Jack D. Sober, Breinigsville; two brothers, Forrest L. Merkel, Jr., companion of Marie Leibensperger, Mertztown, and Linwood J. Merkel, companion of Michele Fritchman, Mertztown; four grandchildren, Christopher J. Trumbauer, fiance of Cait Watkins, Ashley G. Trumbauer, Sarah E. Sober and Katie J. Sober; and one great-granddaughter, Kinsleigh. Along with her husband and parents, Pat was predeceased by her son, George N. Siegfried, Jr., on July 4, 1993.
A funeral service to celebrate and honors Pat's life will be held on Monday, November 11, 2024 at 11:00 AM in Ludwick Funeral Homes and Cremation Care, Inc., 25 East Weis Street, Topton. Interment will follow in New Bethel Zion Cemetery, Kutztown. Friends may call Monday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM in the funeral home.
