Patrick Mahomes Is Cursed
There is growing frustration among fans of the Kansas City Chiefs , especially after the NFL team's Monday-night loss against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Considered one of the biggest NFL games of the season, on November 20 the Chiefs lost at Arrowhead Stadium in their highly anticipated Super Bowl rematch . The Chiefs were shut out in the second half, allowing the opposition to rally from a 10-point deficit to a 21-17 victory.
Chiefs fans believe that 28-year-old Patrick Mahomes, considered by many to be the greatest quarterback of his generation, is being let down by a lack of good wide receivers to pass to. Chief fans are concerned that Mahomes is being let down by his teammates.
Alex Grimm/This was a prevalent theme on Monday night as it proved too difficult for Mahomes to overcome drops from receivers. Since trading Tyreek Hill last year, the team has struggled with the lack of quality wideouts to help Mahomes.
The Chiefs' leading receiver, Travis Kelce , caught seven passes for 44 yards and a touchdown. However, he fumbled in the red zone, which would have sealed victory had the Chiefs scored.
With less than two minutes remaining in the game and the ball at their own 9-yard line, the Chiefs had an opportunity to win. However, Marquez Valdes-Scantling dropped a pass from Mahomes that would have been a 51-yard touchdown.
The Chiefs still had one more chance. Facing a 4th-and-25, Mahomes passed to wide receiver Justin Watson, but he also fumbled it.
"Offensively, we're just not where I want to be at this point in the season," Mahomes said, according to the Associated Press. "It starts with me. I have to make better throws at certain times. We have to continue to move the ball downfield and just be more consistent throughout the game."
However, fans of the game don't believe the fault lies with Mahomes. People took to X, formerly Twitter , to comment on the hilarity of there being so many dropped passes in the game, including by the spectators in the stands.

"Even the fans can't catch his passes," wrote another.
"Damn, not even fans want to catch a pass from Patrick Mahomes!" commented a third X user.
In the press conference after the game, Mahomes took accountability for the pass he made to Valdes-Scantling. "We just didn't come away with the ball. I mean, I probably could have thrown it a little bit shorter, he was that open. You've just got to continue to try and get better and better," he said.
People on X appreciated his selflessness, with one person writing: "Wow, Patrick Mahomes literally took the blame for Marquez Valdes-Scantling's drop. This dude is 1 of 1 on and off the field!"
Another added: "Honestly I respect Patrick Mahomes for trying to take accountability for a ball that he threw perfectly. He's a great teammate who doesn't want to throw his receiver under the bus. Props to him, this is how you do a press conference."
