Patriots tennis edges Crestwood

Despite being swept in doubles, Pittston Area won all three singles matches to earn a 3-2 win over visiting Crestwood in Wyoming Valley Conference boys tennis on Thursday.
Trent Woodruff, Tyler Woodruff and Terry Briggs won their matches for the Patriots. The Comets’ effort was led by wins in doubles from the teams of David Madl/Robby Keenan and Chris Fazzini/Christian Malkemes.
Wyoming Valley West 4,
Wyoming Area 1
The Spartans swept the doubles competition and won two matches in singles to pickup the victory against the Warriors.
Mike Wrebin earned the lone win for Wyoming Area.
Wyoming Seminary 5,
Berwick 0
The Blue Knights earned a victory by sweeping the Bulldogs in both singles and doubles.
Tunkhannock 3, Coughlin 2
The Crusaders won the first two singles matches, but the Tigers swept the doubles competition in their victory.
COLLEGE SOFTBALL
Cougars split twinbill
Misericordia split a doubleheader with Susquehanna, winning 6-4 in the opening game and falling 4-0 in the second.
Bailee Schies pitched a complete game in game one and earned the win allowing three earned runs, while striking out five and walking just one in the opener.
Kristi Seiler had two hits for the Cougars in the game two loss.
