The New England Patriots started their Week 12 matchup with the New York Giants on defense, and they promptly came up with the game’s first big play: Jabrill Peppers recovered a fumble to end the Giants’ opening series. While the home team was able to drive into Patriots territory behind chunk plays by running back Saquon Barkley and wide receiver Jalin Hyatt, the series came to an end when New York fumbled on a botched hand-off from quarterback Tommy DeVito to wideout Wan’Dale Robinson. The Patriots reacted quickly, and while neither Anfernee Jennings nor Christian Barmore were able to secure the loose ball they did ned up with it after all: Peppers came flying in from the second level to secure it for the game’s first turnover. Unfortunately for the Patriots, their offense did little with the opportunity. Following two straight run plays, a delay of game penalty set up a 3rd-and-7; quarterback Mac Jones threw incomplete on a pass intended for wide receiver DeVante Parker to end the drive.
