students got a surprise from a popular comedic actor on Election Day.

Paul Rudd showed up as they were waiting in long lines to cast their votes.

Videos and photos circulating on social media show Rudd smiling with students and staff. He also passed out bottled water and snacks.

In one video, a man asked Rudd why he came to Villanova and Rudd said it was because there were "a lot of people waiting in line for a long time to vote and some of them might be thirsty, so we brought a bunch of water."

NBC News Jacob Soboroff was reporting at the school when he spotted Rudd.

"You never know when you're going to run into Paul Rudd,"Soboroff posted on X.

The post included an image of Rudd - holding a package of bottled water - smiling with the crowd.

Rudd, 55, also reportedly stopped by several other polling locations in Pennsylvania and handed out snacks.

"It is crazy. We've been waiting out here for two hours, now they got Paul Rudd out here," Erin Spillane, a Villanova senior, told .

Pennsylvania is a critical swing state that could be a deciding factor in the contest between Democratic nominee Kamala Harris and Republican nominee Donald Trump.

If the margin is tight, the 4,300 mail ballots at issue could be enough to determine who wins the state and its 19 electoral votes.
