auline H. Evans, of Eagle Court, Wilkes-Barre Township, died Monday at the
home of her sister, Wanda McCloskey, White Haven Pocono, Bear Creek Township.
Born in Kingston, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Stephanie
(Yesson) Kowalewski. She attended Kingston schools. She worked for the
Kearfott Co., East Orange, N.J., and in the local garment industry. She was a
member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James; sister, Celia Stonik; and
brother, Charles.
Surviving, in addition to her sister, Wanda; are her sisters, Irene Bator,
Wilkes-Barre; and Dorothy Washko, McLean, Va.; nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be at 9 a.m. Friday from the Kopicki Funeral Home, 263
Zerbey Ave., Kingston, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at St.
Hedwig’s Church. Interment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Bear Creek.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorial
donations may be made to Hospice Care of the VNA, 80 E. Northampton St.,
Wilkes-Barre, 18701.
