Pawlak: A VERY BOND

By JOHN PAWLAK UNM-LA Advisory Board Member

At the last UNM-LA Advisory Board meeting, I was congratulated for the good work done on getting the Bonds passed. Well, I don't deserve that credit.

The credit goes to our community as a whole, a community that values education and always supports initiatives to improve the high quality of education our students enjoy. And for that, I thank you!

Now, if you voted Yes for the Bonds, I thank you for helping to show the State our county's commitment to our students. And if you voted No against the Bonds, I thank you for voting. That might sound strange to some, but one of Los Alamos' many strengths is the balanced views maintained by differing opinions. By voting, all voices are heard.

We told you that the Bonds would be used for various improvements. One of the things we'll be doing in the future is establishing an open and frequent feedback loop to keep you informed on the progress of those improvements. As is taught in Project Management workshops, if you don't keep score, you can't tell if you're winning.

Our intent is for Los Alamos to win, and your passing of these Bonds makes that possible. So again, I thank you very Bond-ily!

One last request: If you happen to have a "Vote Yes for the Bonds" sign, we would appreciate your help in our collecting them back for future use. You can contact me at to arrange a pickup. Or if it's convenient for you, you can drop it off at the University's main office.

In closing, thank you once again! I'm proud to live in this community!
