Pedestrian, 26, killed in hit-and-run crash in N.J. borough, cops say

A pedestrian was killed after being hit by a car near a South Jersey elementary school early Saturday morning, according to police.

The pedestrian, a 26-year-old man, was found in the middle of Turnersville Road in Pine Hill, Camden County, around 12:59 a.m., local police said. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police did not release the name of the man who was fatally struck.

The motorist who hit the man left the area before officers arrived, police said. Authorities did not say whether they determined the vehicle's make, model or color.

The crash happened near Joey Green Field, a sports complex, and the John Glenn Elementary School. The road where the pedestrian was struck was closed for several hours for police to investigate.

Anyone with information about the crash or who witnessed it is urged to contact either Pine Hill police, at (856) 783-1549 ext. 426. The Camden County Prosecutor's Office is also investigating the crash.
