Pedestrian hit by multiple vehicles on I-40 dies at the scene in Greensboro
A pedestrian, hit by multiple cars on I-40 East in Greensboro Saturday night, died from his injuries at the scene, according to a police news release.
Greensboro Police responded to the incident around 10:30 p.m. and discovered that an adult male had been trying to cross the interstate, just east of the on-ramp that extends from West Wendover Ave., the release said.
He was first hit by a Mercedes-Benz S560 traveling east on the interstate.
The man, whom police have not identified, was subsequently his by several unknown vehicles and died at the scene, the release said.
No injuries were reported from the driver of the Mercedes.
Neither speed nor impairment was a factor in the crash, according to authorities, and the investigation of the incident continues.
