Obituaries submitted on Saturday, Sunday and Holidays are accepted from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. by email only

(No proofs will be furnished. Pricing will not be available until the next business day after 10:00am by calling Dianne at 610-915-2226)

Obituaries received after Deadline will not be published in the following edition of the paper.

Sending Procedure:

Email is the preferable method for receiving Obituaries (and the only method on Saturday, Sunday and Holidays), they can be sent to (Feel free to call and confirm that we've received the email)

Formatting:

Obituaries will continue to visually look the same as they currently do, but you will no longer be restricted in what you can say (ex. As much Family can be listed as you'd like; Wording like "Went to rest with the Lord" is now permissible)

Other:

There is a cost for each obituary. Pricing and payments are only available Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 4:00 pm. All weekend and holiday submissions will be provided a cost the next business day.

Exceptions:

All New accounts, Out of State Funeral Homes and Private Parties will require prepayment upon approval of the obituary. Weekend and Holiday staff are not authorized to set up a new account or process payments

Deadline for the above is before 4:00 PM Mon – Fri. only (Holiday schedules may vary).

Prepayment required submissions will be handled on the very first business day following the weekend and/or holiday schedule. A complete name, address and best contact phone number are required upon submittal of your obituary request to set up your account. A proof will then be emailed for review but placed on hold until payment is received.

New projects

Route 291/Industrial highway/Second Street: Sept. 23 through Sept. 30, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. periodic lane closure weekdays at Reaney Street to install safety enhancements.

Interstate 95 north: Sept. 23, 9 p.m. to 5 the following morning, right lane closure between the I-476 (Exit 7) and Ridley Park (Exit 8) interchanges in Ridley Township and Ridley Park, to install Intelligent Transportation Systems components .

U.S. 202 (Wilmington Pike): Sept. 22 through Sept. 27, 8 p.m. to 5 the following morning, alternating lane closures in both directions between the Delaware state line and Oakland Road in Concord and Chadds Ford townships, milling and paving.

Chester Creek Road: Sept. 23 through Sept. 25, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. a lane closure between Lincoln Drive and Bridgewater Road in Brookhaven for milling and paving.

Ongoing work

Route 3 (West Chester Pike): Through Oct. 30, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., a weekday lane closure between between Boot Road and Bryn Mawr Avenue for curb and sidewalk reconstruction in Newtown Township.

Concord Road: Through late November, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays, lane closure between Tuscany and Station roads in Concord, Bethel and Aston townships for high friction surface treatment.

Near Delaware County

Route 3 (West Chester Pike): through Nov. 29, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., a weekday lane closure between Garfield Avenue and Spring Lane in West Goshen Township for concrete median demolition and reconstruction.

PECO work

U.S. 30 (Lancaster Avenue): Through Oct. 30, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., a weekday lane closure between Church Road and Old Wynnewood Road in Lower Merion Township.

MacDade Boulevard: Through Dec. 31, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., a weekday lane closure between MacDade Mall Boulevard and South Avenue in Glenolden.

Aqua Pa. work

Wallingford Road/Plush Mill Road: Sept. 30 through Jan. 24, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., closed and detoured weekdays between Baltimore Pike and Rogers Lane.

Landover Road: Through Nov. 29, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. closed between Gaynor Road and Haverford Road.

South Creek Road bridge

South Creek Road: will be closed 1,200 feet south of Bullock Road and 1.1 miles north of Cossart Road on a $15.2 million project to replace the bridge over the East Penn Railroad and Brandywine Creek in Pennsbury Township, Chester County, and Chadds Ford Township, Delaware County. A completion date was not provided.

Glen Riddle Road bridge

Through Nov. 21: closure scheduled between Brandywine Drive and Wrights Lane in Middletown Township to replace the bridge carrying Glen Riddle Road over Chrome Run Creek. Local access will be maintained for residents and businesses.

Route 420

The PennDOT $35.8 million project to replace the bridges that carry the highway over Darby Creek in Prospect Park and Tinicum Township.

Into 2027: One southbound lane of the Route 420 bridge over the Darby Creek to be closed 24/7 as a four-year project to refurbish and replace that span continues.

Thornbury Township

Station Road bridge 234: closed around the clock; no timetable to reopen.

Note: With the dry weather, many projects are ahead of schedule and some might end before the date. The Daily Times is not informed when that occurs.
