Historic day for island votersJamie Morris BBC News, Hampshire & Isle of Wight

Well, two MPs on the island in a historic day for both constituencies.

Richard Quigley takes the seat in the West with a majority over Bob Seely who held the Island as a single constituent previously. Also a Tory stronghold since 1997.

In the East after what seemed to be a neck and neck four horse race, which it absolutely was, Joe Robertson from the Conservative Party made a narrow majority to take the seat there.

The consensus from all Candidates tonight though is that the island comes first. Two voices in Westminster is the real victory here today.

Quigley "change is massive but you see time after time the lack of hope people have had over the last 14 years so that return of hope is crucial"

Robertson "most important issues on the island is for young and working age people to feel they have a future here"

Labour regains both Southampton seatsMichele Cross BBC News

Labour has taken both parliamentary seats in Southampton for the first time since 2015.

Darren Paffey won Southampton Itchen with a 6,105 majority over the Conservatives. The seat was formerly held by Conservative Royston Smith who did was not standing for re-election.

And the former Southampton City Council leader Satvir Kaur won Southampton Test, with 15,945 votes.

She takes the reins from Alan Whitehead who stepped down, having held the seat since 1997.

'I will never stop caring' Former leader of the House of Commons Penny Mordaunt has lost her Portsmouth North seat. She polled 13,715 votes, but was beaten by Labour's Amanda Martin with 14,495 votes - gaining a slim majority of 780.

"I will never stop caring for these people and this place.

"Tonight the Conservative Party has taken a battering because it failed to honour the trust people put in it," she said.

Two constituencies to fight over for the first time in the island's history. Richard Quigley from the Labour Party has entered the building ahead of his expected victory in the West.

A sullen looking Bob Seely has entered the sports hall. He has held the all-island seat for the Conservatives since 2017

Itâ€TMs all still to fight for in the East as Reform candidate Sarah Morris looks popular amongst voters there, as does Vix Lowthion for the Greens.

The total turnout figure of 61.38% across the entire island is down from the 2019 turnout of 65.9%.

But the question remains for all the candidates - who will get the slam dunk?
