PENSACOLA, Fla. ( WKRG ) — What some experts forecasted to be a year of significant air travel is showing to be true at the Pensacola International Airport.

Airport officials said they are celebrating record-breaking passenger traffic.

According to a news release from the airport, over 3 million passengers have been served at PNS in the 2024 fiscal year. It is an average of over 58,000 passengers per week, and over 37,000 commercial aircraft arrivals and departures, officials said.

The airport release said that the numbers show that Pensacola is growing as both a tourist destination and a business hub. City officials like Pensacola Mayor D.C. Reeves agreed.

With the record-breaking milestone and the fact that Pensacola International Airport has seen 104% growth over the past 10 years, officials said they are preparing for future expansion.
