Peoria gas prices continue to fall as the holiday season gets underway

PEORIA (25News Now) - Average gas prices in Peoria have fallen 10.3 cents a gallon in the last week, averaging $3.31 a gallon on Monday, according to GasBuddy’s survey of local gas stations.

Prices in Peoria are 18.7 cents lower than a month ago and are 51.2 cents a gallon lower than a year ago.

According to GasBuddy reports, the cheapest gas in Peoria was $2.97 a gallon on Sunday, while the most expensive gas was $3.99 a gallon. The lowest gas price in Illinois on Sunday was $2.73 a gallon, while the highest price was $4.84 a gallon.

The national average price of gas has dropped 5.8 cents a gallon in the last week, averaging $3.21 a gallon on Monday, down 26 cents a gallon from a month ago and 30.3 cents a gallon lower than a year ago, according to GasBuddy.

“With the national average price of gasoline declining for the 10th straight week, motorists are enjoying the longest downward trend at the pump since the summer of 2022. The timing couldn’t be better as Americans head into the holidays, leaving them with more in their wallets at a time of year many start to spend on gifts for loved ones,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.

Meanwhile, AAA Illinois says the national average price of unleaded gas is $3.25 a gallon as of Monday, Illinois’ average price is $3.40 a gallon, and the average price of gas in the Peoria-Pekin metro area was $3.36 a gallon on Monday.
