Person struck by subway train in Manhattan, multiple lines suspended: MTA

NEW YORK (PIX11) – A person was struck by a train in Manhattan Friday morning, causing the suspension of some subway service between Brooklyn and Manhattan, according to the MTA.

It happened at the Delancey Street-Essex Street station around 6:45 a.m., according to the FDNY. The person was pronounced dead at the scene.

The J, M and Z lines were all affected, with no J and Z service between Marcy Avenue and Broad Street and no M service between Myrtle Avenue and Broadway-Lafayette Street.

More Transit News

M trains were only running between Forest Hills-71st Avenue and Broadway-Lafayette Street and between Middle Village-Metropolitan Avenue and Myrtle Avenue.

For service to or from Manhattan, the MTA encouraged commuters to take an R or W train for service between Canal Street and Broad Street. You could've also taken a Nos. 2, 3, 4, 5, A or C train at Fulton Street.

If you needed service to or from Queens, you could've taken an F train for service at Delancey Street-Essex Street or taken an E train for service at Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer.
