PIAA Girls Soccer: Trinity, Camp Hill advance to state quarterfinals
Bella Dupes opened the scoring in the 12th minute, Ashley Berkheimer made three saves and the Trinity girls soccer team advanced to the state quarterfinals with a 3-0 win over Cambria Heights in a PIAA Class 2A opener in Patton.
Mia Scherr and Avery Walker also had goals for the Shamrocks ( ), who advanced to the state quarterfinals for the fourth consecutive year. They'll face WPIAL champion Quaker Valley, a 2-0 first-round winner over District 10 runner-up Fort LeBoeuf, in Saturday's quarterfinals at a site and time to be determined.
Dupes also assisted on Scherr's goal that doubled the Shamrocks' lead in the 42nd minute. Abby Stair and Savannah Ratke also had assists for Trinity.
The Highlanders' season ended at 16-3-2.
In Class A
Camp Hill 2, Muncy 0: A pair of goals from Rose Pistilli paced the Lions (15-7) to their second PIAA Class A quarterfinal appearance in three years. Pistilli opened the scoring in the 13th minute, and Regan Parno added a goal in the 37th minute to give Camp Hill a 2-0 advantage before halftime.
Dylan McInroy, who also had an assist, scored in the second half, and Pistilli punctuated the scoring on a feed from Della Hawkins in the 75th minute.
Awaiting Camp Hill in Saturday's quarterfinal, at a site and time to be determined, is District 1 champion Dock Mennonite, a 6-0 winner over Julia R. Masterman Tuesday.
The Lions held the Indians (15-7) to five shots on goal.
In Class 4A
Lower Merion 1, Northern 0: Eloise Gerson scored the game's only goal in the 30th minute, with an assist from Jordan Levinson, and the Aces (19-5-1) punched their ticket to the quarterfinals, where they'll face District 3's Central Dauphin Saturday at a site and time to be determined.
The first Class 4A season for the Polar Bears (18-3-1) ended with District 3 silver and the program's third straight state-tournament appearance overall.
