Pink Ribbon Run raises money for breast cancer patients in ENC

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and the Cancer Services of Eastern North Carolina had its Pink Ribbon Run this weekend. Raising awareness is important, as ENC has some of the highest death rates from breast cancer.

"We have so many medically deserted communities that people, when they're diagnosed, are getting diagnosed much later and they have a much poorer prognosis when that happens, Executive Director of Cancer Services of Eastern North Carolina Lynn Pischke said. "So we're working on addressing some of the health disparities with our Mission Emotion program, which is mobile mammograms out in these rural communities, so it's a really important part about what we're doing."
