DETROIT — Detroit Pistons coach J.B. Bickerstaff confirmed Thursday afternoon that Jalen Durensustained a left-ankle sprain during Wednesday's 108-107 loss to the Charlotte Hornets at Spectrum Center.

Following practice, Bickerstaff revealed Duren was being evaluated by the team and receiving treatment. The Pistons will know more about Duren's status by "the end of the day" or Friday morning, ahead of their home contest against the Atlanta Hawks at Little Caesars Arena.

The injury occurred early in the first quarter when Duren was going up for a rebound following a missed 3-point shot attempt by Brandon Miller and landed awkwardly.

After a 30-second timeout, Duren returned and played six more additional minutes before being subbed out for Isaiah Stewart. However, the Pistons ruled Duren out following an evaluation at halftime. In eight minutes of play in Charlotte, Duren had recorded three rebounds and an assist.

Prior to the injury, Duren was playing some of the best basketball of his career, averaging 15.5 rebounds, 12.0 points, 2.0 blocks, and a steal over the previous two games. He helped Detroit earn victories against the Brooklyn Nets and Los Angeles Lakers.
