Pitt County Schools unanimously approves new Superintendent
GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — Pitt County Schools officially appointed Dr. Steve Lassiter as the new Superintendent effective immediately.
The vote was unanimous by the nine-member board. Dr. Lassiter took over the duties on an interim superintendent, succeeding Dr. Ethan Lenker.
Dr. Lassiter's contract will run through June 30, 2028.
"I deeply value this opportunity to serve this extraordinary district and community, each that has been home and had a profound influence in my development as an educator," Dr. Lassiter said. "It is also a reminder to me of the marked responsibility that comes with this position of leadership, one that I accept and fully embrace. I am grateful to the Pitt County Board of Education for its enduring support and confidence in my abilities."
