Pittsburgh Steelers cut ties with big-bodied former Eagles WR

M.Wright2 hr ago
The Pittsburgh Steelers have cut former Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Shaquan Davis from their practice squad amid a shakeup of the unit. Pittsburgh elevated wide receiver Ben Skowronek to the active roster and promptly placed him on injured reserve. They re-signed LSU wide receiver Jaray Jenkins and added him to the practice squad.

Davis was signed last week to help simulate the big-bodied wide receivers that the Broncos had on their roster. The Los Angeles Chargers do not have the same wide receivers, and Pittsburgh has three other wide receivers on the practice in Jenkins, Quez Watkins, and Brandon Johnson.

  • BETTING:
  • Davis, an undrafted free agent in the 2023 NFL Draft out of South Carolina State, spent most of his first season with the New Orleans Saints. He was signed by the Philadelphia Eagles this spring, but was promptly released in the spring. The Saints swiped him back up, but he did not make the final roster or practice squad. That is when the Steelers came calling.

Davis posted 934 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns in his final collegiate season. The 6-foot-5 wide receiver ran a 4.51 40-yard dash coming out of college.
