Pittsburgh Steelers QB Russell Wilson expected to return in Week 6

According to the Sunday Night Football broadcast, Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson is expected to return to the team in Week 6. Wilson spoke to Mike Tirico, the Play by Play announcer for Sunday Night Football, and stated he would be back for the team's game against the New York Jets in Week 7. However, he feels confident about Week 6, too.

Later in the broadcast, sideline reporter Melissa Stark said Wilson told her he should be ready to go in Week 6. It also sounds like Wilson is looking to get back into the starting quarterback role, though that will be left up in the air. Justin Fields led the Steelers to a 3-2 record at the start of the season, but he had his worst game against the Dallas Cowboys .

Wilson posted a video of himself running on an anti-gravity treadmill on Saturday. It appears that he is getting closer, but despite participating in team periods, he has yet to sprint or even take a rollout in practice.

"We're definitely ramping it up," Wilson said. "It's been good. I feel great and I'm just getting better every day. ... Definitely been able to hop into the team drills and get more plays and be able to do that. That's been great this week. Doing all the team. 11 on 11, 7 on 7, all that stuff, too. It's been good."

Wilson has been the emergency third quarterback in all five games. Head coach Mike Tomlin has yet to name a starting quarterback in the event that Wilson is healthy, and should he be ready to play this week, Tomlin will have to make his final determination moving forward of who will start.
