Pittsburgh Steelers set to get physical wide receiver back from injury
A.Walker30 min ago
PITTSBURGH - The Pittsburgh Steelers have opened the 21-day window for wide receiver Ben Skowronek to return from injured reserve. Skowronek has been out since suffering a shoulder injury in Week 2 against the Denver Broncos. Skowronek signed to the practice squad after the Houston Texans released him following the preseason. He was elevated for two games as a gunner and blocker. After the Steelers traded for Mike Williams, they now have five wide receivers on the active roster, but SKowronek can bring another physical player that adds another dimension to the group. Rookie Roman Wilson remains on injured reserve with a hamstring injury he aggravated in practice in the lead-up to the team's game against the New York Giants. Skowronek spent the first three seasons of his career with the Los Angeles Rams before being traded to the Texans in June. He has 58 receptions for 575 yards in his career while adding 26 rushing yards. At times, Skowronek played not only wide receiver and special teams, but worked at fullback for the Rams, too.
