Pittston Area Senior High School will be hosting a freshmen orientation from 9 to 11:30 a.m on Friday, Aug. 22. All ninth grade students and newly enrolled transfer students (grades 9 through 12) and their parents/guardians are encouraged to attend.
Students and their parents are to report to the high school auditorium promptly at 9 a.m. for a short presentation. Students will have the opportunity to receive their schedules, lockers, and student handbooks. Also, students and parents will have the opportunity to tour the school and meet student’s teachers, counselors, and principals.
No ninth grades students will be attending the Wilkes-Barre Area Career and Technical Center for the 2014-15 school year, so all ninth grade students should attend the Freshman Orientation.
Kindergarten orientation and first day
Arthur Savokinas, principal of the Pittston Area Primary Center, announces kindergarten orientation will begin at 10 a.m. and end between 11:30 a.m. and noon the first day of school on Monday, Aug. 25.
Parents will learn about curriculum, meet their child’s teacher and visit their classroom. Students who ride the bus will be picked up with their parent/guardian one hour later than their assigned pick-up time. Students who are driven to school should report by 10 a.m.
A school messenger phone message will be sent to all parents with assigned bus stops and pick-up times. A letter will be sent to all parents explaining school procedures.
Graduation DVD
Parents who purchased a DVD of the Pittston Area kindergarten graduation ceremony may pick up their DVD at the Primary Center. DVDs not picked up will be distributed to the students upon returning to first grade. Parents with questions are asked to call the Primary Center at 570-655-3785, ext 4. main office.
Back to School Night
Arthur Savokinas, principal of the Pittston Area Primary Center, announces a Back to School Night at 7 pm. on Tuesday, Sept. 2 at the Primary Center. Parents will get the opportunity to tour the school, meet their child’s teachers and discuss curriculum with the teacher.
