In 1998, Don Neb entered the real estate industry after completing his schooling in Denver and obtaining his license. He needed to work for someone for two years before starting his own business, so he joined his friend Allyn Wind at Wind Realty and Management. In 2001, Neb opened his business, Plains Realty & Management LLC.

Plains Realty was significant for Neb and four other local real estate agents. A Feb. 8, 2001 from The Fort Morgan Times hangs on the wall in Neb's office. It reads: "Lucky timing and smart planning worked together recently to allow two of Fort Morgan's most respected real estate firms to combine with one of the area's best-known businessmen to create Plains Realty and Management LLC."

The explained, "The February 1 (2001) merger of Doty Realty and Auction, along with Wind Realty and Management, formed the heart of the new company. Don Neb, formerly of Wind Realty, will act as the employing broker at the new firm. The new broker associates will be Gene Doty, owner of Doty Realty; Allyn Wind, owner of Wind Realty; former Wind associate broker Dwight Miller; and the recently licensed John Clatworthy, who sold his family's auto dealership, the Clatworthy Co., to Tri-County Auto last year."

Neb has been in the real estate business for 26 years and an agent for 24. He moved into his current office on Platte Avenue in Fort Morgan 14 years ago. "It doesn't seem like it's been that long," he said.

Plains Realty handles residential, farm, ranch, water rights, and commercial property sales in Morgan County and neighboring counties. "Things are down right now, but we do well," said Neb. We have amazing agents here."

Leandra Marymee, Neb's daughter, began working at Plains Realty 13 years ago as an agent and also works as a teacher at Thompson Primary School in Brush.

"I've been in the office with Dad since I was a kid," she said. "I enjoy being an agent and have met some amazing people. Working with someone during a life-changing time builds relationships and sometimes leads to lifelong friendships."

The staff at Plains Realty includes Employing Broker Don Neb, who specializes in residential, farms, ranches, water rights, and commercial properties. The team also includes Agent Leandra Marymee, Agent Chris Ley, Agent Francie Young, and Agent Bob Hoskins, who specialize in residential and commercial properties. Other agents include John Nichols, who specializes in residential, commercial, auctions, and appraisals, and John Clatworthy, who specializes in commercial, residential, and auctions.

Brush Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Makyle Mares expressed excitement about Plains Realty's membership. "We are very excited to have them as a continued member of the Chamber. Ribbon cuttings are something we enjoy doing not only for new members but to celebrate an anniversary, a new location, or an event that is meaningful for our business members," he said. "We appreciate Plains Realty and their membership with the Brush Chamber and look forward to working with them in the future."
