LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Downtown Little Rock is set to receive a statue honoring a native Arkansan who served in World War II.

Attorney General Tim Griffin announced Friday that a statue of Staff Sgt. Denver "Bull" Randleman would be erected downtown near the new AG office building in Little Rock. The Rector-born Randleman served in Easy Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division as portrayed in the book and later television series "Band of Brothers."

In the television series the cigar-chomping Randleman was portrayed by actor Michael Cudlitz.

Griffin said the statue will be sculpted by Kevin Kresse, who had previously sculpted a statue of Johnny Cash, now on display in the U.S. Capitol. The Randleman statue is being paid for through private donations, Griffin said.

The attorney general said honoring Randleman is a past-due event.

"It is past time that we honor the selfless service of Staff Sergeant Denver Randleman, and today I am announcing that acclaimed sculptor Kevin Kresse has agreed to sculpt a statue that will honor Staff Sergeant Randleman and be placed in downtown Little Rock near the new home of the Office of the Attorney General," Griffin said.

Griffin announced in August 2023 that his office would be moving to the historic Boyle Building at West Capitol and Main Street. The building is currently undergoing a $35 million renovation in preparation for the move.
