Plattsburgh, NY. – A stand-up comedy event is happening at the Strand Center Saturday night to support the Autism Alliance of Northeastern New York.

For the alliance, fundraisers like these keep their doors open while providing opportunities to performers.

"At the Autism Alliance, we provide grants, college scholarships, we connect people with resources, and we provide social opportunities to people on the spectrum and their families," said Autism Alliance Director Laura Carmichael

"It's important to just be around people who are in your shoes and kind of have that lived experience. And then, as people get older too its nice to hang out with people you don't really have to explain yourself to."

Comedian Hari Kondabolu told us that "You're going to get a fun show. You're going to get jokes about everything from being a parent, to politics, to race, to sports. It's going to be a broad swath of humanity."

The show is rated PG-13, but there is no age restriction. It starts Saturday night at 7:00 p.m., and tickets are available at the box office or online on the Strand Center Webpage .
