PLAYOFF PUSH: Tigers, Twins now tied for final AL Wild Card spot

LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - The Detroit Tigers are now tied for the final AL Wild Card spot with the Minnesota Twins after yet another crushing loss for the Twins at the hands of the Cleveland Guardians Thursday. The Guardians captured another walk-off win and clinched a playoff berth with the 3-2 victory in 10 innings. Cleveland took three of four games in the series.

With Thursday's loss, Minnesota fell to (80-73) on the season, matching Detroit. Both AL Central rivals will now head east for weekend road series. The Tigers will play three games in Baltimore against the Orioles and the Twins will be in Boston to take on the Red Sox.

The first game of the weekend series between the Tigers and Orioles will be aired Friday night on Apple TV+ at 7:05 p.m.

The Tigers could still catch the Kansas City Royals or Baltimore Orioles in the Wild Card race as well as they pursue their first playoff berth since 2014. Detroit trails the Royals by two games and the Orioles by five.
