Plea possible for man accused of terroristic threats

EAU CLAIRE — An Eau Claire man charged with disorderly conduct and making terrorist threats was in court Wednesday and appears headed for a plea agreement.

Tyler Sillman, 22, was charged in April after a caller told police Sillman had threatened to shoot the door to the caller's apartment down, and that he had a handgun. Police didn't find anyone at the residence in the 3600 block of Fairfax Street, so they went to Sillman's home.

According to the criminal complaint, Sillman wouldn't answer the door, but police spotted him peeking out a window several times. They contacted him by phone and he agreed to come out of the building. The handgun was placed in a safe in the apartment before he surrendered.

Sillman said the incident began due to a fight and admitted sending the initial caller intimidating texts before showing up at their home.

There is an oddity in the case, and it doesn't appear anyone is sure why. The court record shows a return of mail service in late May and another in mid-April. During Wednesday's hearing Sillman confirmed his address for the court and said he wasn't sure why the mail was not being delivered.

The case is not the only one involving Sillman in Eau Claire County courts. He also faces charges of hit and run damaging property adjacent to a highway and a bail jumping case for violating the terms of his bond.
