Pleasant Valley wins 5A state volleyball title

Pleasant Valley defeated defending state champion Waukee Northwest 25-20, 24-26, 25-22, 25-16 to win the 5A state volleyball title on Thursday in Coralville.
Isabelle Kremer had 24 kills to lead the top-ranked Spartans, who won their final 28 matches of the season and ended with a record of 35-2.
Kremer was named the All-Tournament team captain. She added four aces and four digs in the win.
Gabriella Ragins, who had 11 kills and four blocks, also was named to the All-Tournament team.
Abbie Staats had a team-best 23 digs for the Spartans. Carsyn Kelley dished out 29 assists.
