Police identify body found in North Rapid culvert

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) - Rapid City police announced Wednesday they have identified the man whose body was found in a North Rapid culvert in February. DNA evidence reportedly confirmed the man was Lloyd Bald Eagle, 62.

Bald Eagle had been missing since 2022 , and his family reportedly provided DNA, allowing forensic investigators to confirm his identity.

Bald Eagle's body was said to be significantly decomposed upon its discovery.

A spokesperson for the Rapid City Police Department said the police appreciated the Bureau of Indian Affairs Missing and Murdered Unit's assistance in the investigation.
