Police are investigating alleged antisemitic abuse of a group of Jewish school students on a tram in Melbourne . A Victoria police spokesperson confirmed it was investigating a report of "racially motivated offensive behaviour" on a tram on Monday 4 November. "Officers were told two men approached five girls on a tram near Balaclava [Road in Caulfield North] and shouted offensive comments about 12.30pm," the spokesperson said. The males allegedly yelled "heil Hitler" at the five students from Beth Rivkah Ladies College , according to a report in the Herald Sun on Tuesday. 's breaking news email There were no physical injuries, police confirmed. The Jewish Community Council of Victoria (JCCV) condemned the alleged incident. "The JCCV is appalled by the antisemitic incident that took place yesterday, where students from Beth Rivkah Ladies College were targeted," a post on Facebook said. In a statement, the JCCV said it had worked with police regarding the "offensive and traumatising antisemitic incident" against the students. "Police have referred the incident to detectives for investigation and are seeing CCTV footage of the incident," the JCCV said.
