Sep. 11—Police are investigating a stabbing that occurred Friday in Ada, which left one man seriously injured and another under arrest.

Arrested in the case was Darron Hamilton, 35. The stabbing victim was identified as Markus Jacobs.

Police responded to the scene at 5:40 p.m., at an apartment in the 200 block of S. Cherry St.

Ada police spoke to a person at the scene who indicated he did not witness the stabbing but did witness the aftermath. He reportedly told police he was standing downstairs when Hamilton walked down the stairs and threw something into the grass. The witness said Hamilton looked upset, mumbled something about an altercation and then left on his bike.

"(The witness) advised a few seconds after (Hamilton) left, (Jacobs) came around the corner from where (Hamilton) had also come from, and advised he had been stabbed," Ada Police Officer Louis Aquila said in a report. "(The witness said) he helped (Jacobs into an apartment) and waited for EMS to arrive."

Aquila said APD Sgt. Richard Hubble located a large knife in the grass where Hamilton reportedly threw the object.

Hamilton was located a short time later by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol at the intersection of 14th and Cherry Streets. He was bleeding and asked for medical assistance, police said.

Police spoke with Hamilton, who, they said, gave multiple accounts of what had occurred. He reportedly indicated that he had been stabbed, then said he and Jacobs had both been stabbed.

Aquila said he showed Jacobs a photo of Hamilton, and Jacobs then identified Hamilton as the person who stabbed him.

After being treated by EMS, police spoke with Hamilton again, who then reportedly claimed self-defense. He claimed that Jacobs came up to him with a large knife and was looking for a sex offender, which, Hamilton told police, he is.

Hamilton reportedly indicated that he and Jacobs got into a physical altercation and that is how they both received their injuries.

However, police said they spoke with Hamilton's wife, who indicated a large knife was missing from their house. Through a photo, she identified the bloody knife as the one missing from her residence and said the only people who would have had access to the knife would have been herself and Hamilton.

Jacobs was taken to a local hospital, according to police, then flown to an Oklahoma City hospital. A condition update was not available by press time Wednesday.
