Police investigating overnight homicide in north Austin

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Police are investigating after a person died in north Austin overnight.

Austin Police Department officers responded around 12:45 a.m. to 911 calls reporting gunfire in the 8300 block of Goldfinch Court. When they arrived, they found one person dead.

Police said officers detained a person of interest and multiple witnesses for questioning but did not provide any other information.

This is Austin's 61st homicide of the year.
