Police: One injured in early morning downtown Waco shooting

Waco police are investigating a shooting that left one person injured early Sunday morning in downtown Waco.

Officers responded at about 1:40 a.m. to the area near Fifth Street and Austin Avenue, where they found an individual suffering from a gunshot wound, Waco Police Department spokesperson Cierra Shipley said. The victim was transported to a local hospital and is expected to recover, Shipley said.

No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing.
