Polish film has lessons for why we should support Ukraine | Chuck Litweiler

The Polish Film Festival on the UW-Madison campus screened a historical dramatization last week, " The Scarborn (Kos) ," that is relevant to our current policy toward Ukraine.

A Polish general was a key figure in helping America win our war for independence in the 18th century. Later, when Russia subverted and seized much of Poland, he attempted to unite Poles to defeat them. Ultimately unsuccessful, he was determined to include peasants in the effort.

Today, Russia is determined to grab whatever it can of Poland's neighbor Ukraine. Ukraine is not asking us to risk American lives in the way that military leaders from Europe did for us in the Revolutionary War. They are asking only that we continue to provide the military aid they need and the authority to use our weapons as they deem best to defend their land.

We must not sell them out for a Munich style "peace." How could this in any way "make America great again"? Let your congressperson and senators know your opinion.
