The San Antonio Spurs expect Gregg Popovich to make a full recovery after the NBA's winningest coach suffered a " mild stroke " on Nov. 2 before the team's 113-103 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves. Assistant coach Mitch Johnson has guided the Spurs for the past six games with Popovich out due to health reasons. On Wednesday, the NBA team announced what those health reasons were. "Head coach Gregg Popovich has suffered a mild stroke," read a release from the Spurs . "The episode occurred on Nov. 2 at the Frost Bank Center. Popovich, who has already started a rehabilitation program, is expected to make a full recovery. At this point, a timeline for his return to the sidelines has not been determined. During this time, the organization is grateful to the extended community for providing privacy and space to the Popovich family." Now 75 years old, Popovich has been San Antonio's coach since the 1996-97 season. He has a regular-season record of 1,393-827, giving him more victories than any coach in NBA history. The Spurs won the NBA championship under Popovich in 1999, 2003, 2005, 2007 and 2014.
