Prep glance: Highlights from Saturday's high school sports action
Class A No. 9 Omaha Marian won Saturday's Lincoln Northeast volleyball invite, sweeping Class B No. 6 Waverly in two sets, 25-15, 25-21.
The Crusaders had a lot of success in the first set, leading Waverly 19-12 at one point. However, in the second set, the Vikings jumped u to a quick 7-2 lead to force a Omaha Marian timeout.
The Crusaders rebounded from there, grabbing a 19-18 lead and the eventual set and match victory.
Also playing in the tournament, Class A No. 10 Lincoln North Star lost twice. The Gators played the Vikings first and fell in three sets, 25-22, 24-26, 15-25. In their second match, North Star again lost to three sets, this time to Class B No. 9 Gretna, 25-23, 22-25, 23-25.
The Dragons Elle Heckenlively led the way with 11 kills.
The host Rockets went 1-1 on the day, falling to Lincoln Standing Bear 24-26, 25-16, 17-25. Lincoln Northeast rebounded with a 25-19, 25-17 win over Lincoln Southeast.
