TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - One Frenchtown organization is preparing to feed thousands on Thanksgiving Day, but it is in need of donations and volunteers.

Project Annie, founded by Annie Johnson , has given away hot meals on Thanksgiving Day since 1998. The purpose is to make sure everyone in the community has something to eat and somewhere to go during the holiday.

The project has become a cherished tradition in the capital city, and she hopes to continue it. However, she needs donations and volunteers to make it possible.

"I've seen a lot of folks that don't have anything and nowhere to go on Thanksgiving, so I just sacrifice some time to be with them and give them so they can be happy," Johnson said. "I can't do it all by myself. It's a community thing."

She needs at least 25 volunteers to work for one hour on Thanksgiving Day to help serve meals.

Additionally, she also needs the following items below to serve the holiday meals:

  • smoked turkeys
  • canned milk
  • salad pickles
  • gallon of canned green beans (101 oz)
  • gallon of canned creamed corn (101 oz)
  • stuffing mix
  • bell pepper
  • small dessert plates
  • paper bowls
  • plastic spoons and forks
  • paper towels
  • individual water bottles
  • canned soda
  • sweet and iris potatoes
  • grated cheese
  • Food Service aluminum foil
  • paper cups
  • to go plates
  • clear plastic cups
  • individual juice bottles
