PUEBLO, Colo. (KKTV) - With chilly overnight temperatures continuing into Monday morning, the city of Pueblo is extending an emergency housing and shelter ordinance.

Mayor Heather Graham initially issued a declaration of temporary housing and shelter emergency for the city spanning from 7 p.m. Nov. 13 through 7 a.m. Nov. 17. The city announced Sunday afternoon that it was adding another day.

"This emergency shelter declaration has been extended through Monday, Nov. 18. with sheltering overnight to begin at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 17 and expiring at 7 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 18," the city said in a short news release.

When the ordinance is in effect, local churches, synagogues, mosques, temples and other religious institutions can use their buildings as temporary shelters for the city's homeless.

More winter weather is expected early next week; no word if the ordinance will be extended another day.
