Quarterly Updates: Texans trail Jaguars 3-0 at the end of the first quarter
The Jaguars started their first drive on their own 13-yard-line after a 46-yard punt by Cameron Johnston. On the first play, Travis Etienne Jr. rushed for six yards before being dragged out of bounds at the 19. Trevor Lawrence hit Evan Engram for a 21-yard completion to set up a fresh set of down at the 40. Back-to-back runs by Etienne picked up four yards up to the 44 to set up 3rd-and-6, which Lawrence hit Zay Jones for a pickup of 10 yards and set up a new set of downs. Etienne was dropped for a loss by Khalil Davis and Jalen Pitre on the first play and an incomplete pass by Lawrence quickly set up a 3rd-and-11 for the Jaguars. Lawrence hit Christian Kirk for a gain of 18 yards and move it to the 29 in Texans territory. Texans defense caused Etienne to run out of bounds for a loss of one and then an incomplete pass set up a 3rd-and-11, which Lawrence hit Etienne, who got up to the 22 and forced a field goal attempt. Brandon McManus nailed a 40-yard field goal to put the Jaguars on the board with 5:54 remaining in the first quarter. The scoring drive was 12 plays, took 5:54 and spanned 65 yards. Jaguars lead 3-0.
