"All of these results are an outstanding achievement for these students as well as for the rural DEIS school," she said. "These achievements also stand as a reflection of the hard work and dedication put in by the students, their parents and guardians as well as the teachers and staff of the school in Ramsgrange."

The school also wished to pay tribute to its 20 LCA2 all of whom received either distinctions or merits for their work over the past two years. Commenting on this high standard of results, which has been a consistent trend over the past few years, LCA Co-Ordinator Ms Maeve Walsh said, "We are so proud of the hard work that these students put in over the two years. Their dedication over the course of their LCA meant they had accumulated a large percentage of their marks prior to the commencement of their final exams, which account for 35 per cent."

Many of the school-leavers are now progressing onto third level education with students taking up courses in University College Cork (UCC), South East Technological University (SETU) Waterford, SETU Carlow, Trinity College Dublin, Dublin City University (DCU), The University of Limerick (UL) and University of Ulster, Derry. These courses range from astrophysics to communications, arts to sports and exercise science, maths and philosophy to medical and health sciences, and nursing to IT. T

Those opting not to go on to third level are taking up apprenticeships in plumbing, welding and electrical amongst others. A selection of students are also progressing on to Post Leaving Cert (PLC) courses while others are entering into the world of work.

The school organised a special morning to celebrate and recognise the "exceptional achievements" of the 14 students who achieved over 450 points. These students were invited into the school along with their parents and guardians and presented with a certificate to mark their achievement and celebrate their academic excellence. Also present on the morning were the current sixth year and LCA2 students who had the opportunity to speak to the outgoing students about their exam experiences.

Speaking at the event, Principal Ms. Tracey Edwards commended the students on their fantastic results and achievements adding that it all came down to their "hard work, dedication and resilience over the past two years". She ended by wishing each and every one of them the best of luck as they progress on their journey.
