CALCUTTA, Ohio (WKBN) – A 1984 Pontiac Trans Am driven by Ray "Boom Boom" Mancini is for sale in Calcutta.

Recently at Floyd's Auto Body in Calcutta, north of East Liverpool, Ray Mancini's 1984 Pontiac Trans Am was pulled out of the garage without a muffler.

"We've done a lot of work to it. You know, it wasn't running, the motor was locked up, had to go through the brakes, tires," said owner Dan Floyd.

The Trans Am is a Mechum Racing package believed to be the only one left of 12 built in 1984. A plaque on the console states it was built specifically for Ray "Boom Boom" Mancini who was at the peak of his boxing career. It was given to him by Jim Pace Pontiac.

"It was one of the best cars I ever had, man. I loved that car," Mancini said. "Jimmy Pace was a wonderful man. He'd always come to my fights. He was a very big supporter and he let me drive his cars."

But the car was just a loan and in early 1986, Mancini gave it back. In 2013, Dan Floyd bought it off a woman for $1,000 who had it stored in an abandoned pottery in Chester, West Virginia.

"She had to get it out because they were tearing the pottery down and she towed it to her house and she was trying to get rid of it and that's how we bought it," said Floyd.

To authenticate it was Mancini's car, Floyd brought it to Boardman two weeks ago and showed it to Mancini who sat in it and posed for pictures. He autographed the glove box and stated it was his.

"When I sat in that car, man, it brought back flashbacks. I was transported back to 1983, 84," Mancini said.

Floyd said he probably wouldn't have purchased the car if it wasn't for that. But he doesn't have room in his body shop or the time to restore it, so he's selling the Trans Am.

He's asking $15,000 as is.

"I was told at an auction, Barrett-Jackson or something, it's probably a six-figure car," Floyd said.

Mancini said he would consider buying it back from Floyd.

"I said, 'Hey if you're looking to sell it, refurbish it, let me know. Maybe I'll buy it back from you because that's a great car, man.'"
