Raymond Eugene Rieck

MATTOON — Raymond Eugene Rieck passed on October 8, 2024, after a short battle with renal cell carcinoma.

Private funeral services and interment have been held. A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, November 2, 2024, from 12 to 3 p.m. at the Walkway, 1501 Lake Land Blvd., Mattoon so come share a memory of our family and especially of Ray. Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, 1200 Wabash Avenue, Mattoon, Ill. 61938 is assisting the family.

Raymond was born on September 3, 1956, in Decatur, Ill., to the late James Ronald Rieck and Lola Mae Jacobi Rieck. His family moved to Braidwood and then Custer Park, IL where he graduated from High School. He married Diane Mintun Rieck on July 26, 1980, and together they had three sons, Zachery Scott Rieck, and wife, Kelli of Eagle River, Alaska, Christopher Aaron Rieck of Miramar Beach, Fla., and James Lynn Rieck and wife Juliana of Mattoon, Ill.; seven grandchildren who were the apple of his eyes: Brenan Rieck, Sophie Rieck, Ace Rieck, Sawyer Rieck, Leo Rieck, Luca Rieck, and Lucielle Rieck; siblings include, Ronald Rieck and wife, Ulrike, of Glasgow, Scotland, Michael Rieck and wife, Kelly, of Mattoon, Ill., Mark Rieck and wife, Lisa, of Trilla, Ill., Joseph Rieck and wife, Brenda, of Decatur, Ill., Walter Rieck and wife, Christy, of Worden, Ill., Paula Parrish and husband, Michael, of Louisiana, Mo.; one aunt, Jacquline Ann Rieck of Venice, Fla.; sister-in-law, Diane K. Rieck of Port Orange, Fla.; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive him. Ray was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas D. Rieck; nephews, John Rieck, Andrew Rieck, Jesse Rieck.

The family would welcome memorial donations to The Mattoon Area Family YMCA of which he was a charter member.
