Tiffany Moon is adding author to her impressive resume that includes mother , doctor , entrepreneur and reality TV star.

The former Real Housewives of Dallas star is releasing a memoir, titled Joy Prescriptions: How I Learned to Stop Chasing Perfection and Embrace Connection , and PEOPLE has an exclusive first look at the cover.

And while Joy Prescriptions won't be out until May 2025, Moon spoke to PEOPLE about the motivation behind sharing her story.

"I think I've lived a very interesting life with a lot of twists and turns," Moon, 40, tells PEOPLE. "What motivated me to write the book is that I've learned so many lessons from the different chapters of my life."

"I get hit up for advice all the time, whether it's through Instagram or I'll give an address at a conference and there'll be a line of woman afterwards who ask, 'How do you do it all?' or 'How do you deal with haters?' or 'I work in a very traditional job but I want to start posting about fashion or makeup but I'm afraid of what people will think of me,'" she explains. "I get these questions over and over. And I wanted to write to share more of my story from what people were able to see on Housewives or see on social media, because those are just snippets of our lives but not the full story."

The multi-hyphenate star also offered insight into where the title came from. "The reason it's called Joy Prescriptions is because at the end of each chapter, I actually offer the reader a joy prescription to take back to their life and infuse more gratitude, joy and laughter," she adds.

Joy Prescriptions unfolds chronologically, beginning with Moon immigrating to American at 6 years old.

"The first chapter starts with me coming on a plane from China, and the lessons that I learned there. Then going to college at the age of 15, going to medical school, meeting my husband, struggling with infertility, having my twins, the challenges of being a working mom, then Housewives and becoming an entrepreneur," the author explains. "I think everyone will will find that there's a chapter or two that really resonates with them."

Moon says writing the opening chapters was the toughest, as she had "suppressed" a lot of her emotions around frequent moves, racially motivated bullying and her family's financial hardships.

"As the chapters progressed," she says, "It reminded me of how far I've come. We used to buy rotting fruit to save money and everything in our house came from a garage sale. And now I look around and I'm like, wow, look how far I've come."

Reality TV fans will want to read the chapter on The Real Housewives of Dallas, which ended after a tumultuous season 5 in 2021 amid cast conflicts. But Moon hasn't ruled out a return to unscripted TV — she appeared as a charter guest in this week's episode of Below Deck Sailing — if the opportunity presented itself.

"If the right show came along, I would be down to do it again, I just don't want to be with terrible castmates and have to fight. I'm not a fighter; I'm a lover," Moon says. "Someone said I need to go on The Traitors but I've never watched."

In the meantime, Moon says she's enjoying the joys that come from her family, including "playing with my kids, pranking my husband and cuddling with the dogs."

"This is so cliche, but it's really the small things that bring me so much joy in life, when earlier [in my life] I had thought it was all these achievements, accolades and things," she concludes.
